Kirklees Council recognised for work to support people to maintain mental health recovery
Kirklees Council has been recognised for its work to support mental health recovery and has been selected as finalists in this year’s International Technology Enabled Care (ITEC) Awards.
The council has worked with Brain in Hand and Community Links to develop the use of an app based resource for people with mental health problems. The work highlights the beneficial support the app brings in recovery and supporting people to maintain their mental health and improve their coping skills.
Run by the TEC Services Association (TSA), the ITEC Awards are to be held at the prestigious Gala Dinner at this year’s International Technology Enabled Care conference on the evening of the 15 October 2019 at the ICC Birmingham.
Cllr Musarrat Khan, Cabinet member for
Health and Social Care said: “Our nomination as a finalist in the ITEC Awards
is great news and recognises the joint working between Kirklees Council, our
voluntary sector partners Community Links and Brain in Hand in developing the
app for people experiencing mental health problems. It supports people to
develop their own strategies and coping skills to manage their health and in
turn increases confidence in their own abilities, improves their independence
and reduces the need for health and social care services. I would like to wish
the best of luck to our team at the awards event.”
TSA Chief Executive, Alyson Scurfield comments: “It’s
a great achievement to be shortlisted from the large number of submissions we
received for these significant and exciting awards.“The ITEC Awards are designed to celebrate the very best the TEC industry has to offer. It will act as a hallmark of quality for both those shortlisted and the winners and I’d like to wish Kirklees Council the best of luck when the winners are announced on 15th October.”
