Councillors Paul Kane and Molly Walton
“I am deeply saddened at the news of Paul’s and Molly’s
passing both were dedicated and hardworking councillors who served their
constituents tirelessly for over 20 years. They made a great impact on their
constituencies of Dewsbury East and Crosland Moor and Netherton and will be
sadly missed by many. I knew Paul before I was a councillor when he was Chair
of the Housing Management Committee and he was always a supportive and friendly
colleague. This is such tragic news and my heart goes out to their families and
friends.”

“This is a sad day for the council to hear of the passing of Councillors Paul
Kane and Molly Walton, two councillors who contributed so much to the people of
Kirklees. Cllr Kane was born and raised in Dewsbury and was the member for Dewsbury
East from 1995 and the Mayor of Kirklees between 2015 and 2016. In both
capacities he was proud of the impact he had on local people.
Councillor Molly Walton was a councillor for over 20 years
as the member for Crosland Moor and Netherton and served on many committees
within the council as well as a cabinet member.
Our thoughts are with their family and friends at this very
sad time.”
