election thanks

May I  take the opportunity to thank all the voters of the Denby Dale ward who voted for me on Thursday, and gave me 4 more years in order to continue the work I have been doing over the last 4 years. It is really humbling that I have the faith of the residents of where I live and grew up in to represent them for 4  more years.

I would also like to congratulate my opposite number Paula Kemp on gaining such a large share of the vote at her first attempt at becoming a Councillor. No mean feat at your first attempt.

Once again it looks like the Denby Dale ward will have the highest turnout in the elections. And I thank all those who took the time to vote, even if it was against me. Our democracy will only survive whilst people are prepared to go out and vote, the right to vote was a long and bitter fight, and we should not take this for granted.

Elections are not won by one person, there is a huge team working away behind the scenes and I would like to thank everyone who helped in whatever way in my success, it is really appreciated.

Finally I wonder why the person or persons who spend so much time driving round on an evening removing well over a 150 of my posters over the last week, don’t do it after the elections and leave it to me to remove the remnants they leave behind?
