Cllr Paul Kane, proudly handed over the keys at the opening of the new School House at Eastborough School, Dewsbury.
It was refurbished with funding from the Dewsbury Area Committee and is going to be of real benefit to the local people, serving as an extra classroom for the school during the day and as a community venue at night and during weekends, used by local groups for such activity as Tenants and Residents Association meetings.
"This is a great example of a community project, people working together to get the best of the small amount of resources available to them. They have clearly recognised they can achieve more for a greater number of local people, by taking this approach," said Cllr Kane.
