This
was my second year as a councillor and I have continued learning about the role
and engaging with local residents.
Along
with my colleagues in the ward, I deal with many phone calls and emails from
residents as well as visiting residents in their own home. Subjects are varied
from rubbish on streets to people suffering from domestic abuse. For example, this
year we have been involved in representing residents' views on a proposed
planning application in Marsh for a restaurant. An exciting development is the
Petangue pitch at Greenhead Park is now open.
During
the year, I have worked alongside my ward colleagues to carry out mobile
surgeries every Saturday morning.
I
have also attended many meetings which include Huddersfield Area Committee
(Chair), Huddersfield Planning Sub Committee and the Scrutiny Panel for Health
Well Being & Communities.
