NHS FAILING TO PROVIDE DENTISTS

A massive shortage of NHS dentists in Kirklees has left local people struggling to find treatment. People in severe pain are being advised to attend already overburdened, and under threat A&E departments (as long as they are still open).

The Dentists own association blame the complicated contracts and NHS mismanagement of Dentistry. Unfortunately Dentistry offers an insight into what the Governments vision is for the NHS, underfunding leading to a privatised sector growing due to lack of NHS provision. Long waiting lists growing and local services removed will force people into looking to buy either full provision, or queue jumping. No one can blame parents desperate to look after their child or children looking out for their parents. Dentistry should be guaranteed as a mainstream NHS service.   

A patients’ group has claimed that the NHS is failing to offer fair access to dentists in Kirklees.

Healthwatch Kirklees boss has admitted deep frustration with the service after 12 months of failing to convince NHS England to change its approach to address what the community needs.

The patients’ rights charity’s research has found that just over half of adults in Kirklees (57%) have seen an NHS dentist in the last two years – which surprisingly is above the England average.

It revealed that pockets of the district have a chronic shortage in NHS dentists the whole system for finding and accessing NHS dentistry appears to be broken.

“The model isn’t right,” they say, “it’s not working for the benefit of the patients.”

The Healthwatch team’s research found that merely finding out which dentists were accepting new NHS patients was virtually impossible. They say the NHS Choices website should detail all the NHS dentists in Kirklees and who’s taking on new patients it does not.

The government, intent on cutting tax and regulation to it's Tax Avoiding Friends has told councils throughout the land, that despite the pressure on the NHS caused in part by shortfalls in Adult Social Care it is unwilling to fund Adult Social Care.

It has told councils to increase council tax by 6%, despite knowing that that is not enough to avoid cuts to Social Care therefor putting massive pressure on the NHS. The attack on the NHS is not accidental, Conservatives intent is to destroy the NHS to line the pockets of their Tax Avoiding and foreign friends of the Capitalist elite by cutting funds, constant reorganisation and expensive privatisation.

It must be remembered the Tories fought Tooth and Nail against the creation of the NHS, supported by the BMA and the right wing press they called the NHS the "Medical Gestapo" and "Medical Fuhrer" and the Daily Mail, as usual speaking for the working man, declared "NO FUTURE FOR US IN BRITAIN"

The NHS was created despite the 178 Conservatives who voted against it.

All parties on Kirklees propose the Government recommended 6% Rate rise.

Three parties propose using money that we may receive in November, that could be used to protect Adult Social Care and thus take some pressure off the NHS, to delay 1% of the rise for the year. But the do propose the rise.

Conservative Government’s dangerous underfunding of Social Care and the NHS

Motion submitted in Accordance with Council Procedure Rule 14 to address the Conservative Government’s dangerous underfunding of Social Care and the NHS 

This council is extremely concerned about the on-going crisis in Social Care and Health (via the NHS). This has been caused by unprecedented demand, and unprecedented, chronic underfunding by this Conservative Government. 

Starving our social care system of resources puts lives at risk and destroys the quality of life of countless residents of Kirklees.  

As local representatives it is our duty to stand up for Kirklees residents and express our deep concern.  

The motion asks that the leaders of all our political groups sign a joint letter to the relevant Secretaries of State, and campaign through local MPs and the LGA, for an adequate funding of social care and the NHS.

£650 million in 'secret cuts' to the NHS

£650 million was taken out of the health service by changes to public sector pensions that leave employers fielding extra costs. Schools, hospitals, and forces will pay £2 billion extra in pension contributions, contributions previously made by Government.

The Chancellor announced that he would change the so-called “discount rate” for the pensions, meaning central government will pay less but front line employers will pay more.

A sneaky cut that he didn't have the guts to mention in his speech, much like all the cuts to  payment that help the disabled. To say it was a sneaky nasty mealy mouthed budget would be generous, but he did get cheers and support from the greedy Capitalists sitting around him calculating what the tax cuts for the rich would mean for themselves and their relatives.

I apologise if I missed it but I didn't see Jason rising to object to this further blow to our Health Service, or to stand up for his disabled constituents.

Not surprisingly Radio 4 claimed this as an improvement to peoples pensions - which it is not - rather than a sneaky underhand cut, which it is. Good to see that the BBC's (Broadcasting By Capitalists) New Political Editor is maintain the high standard of support for their conservative friends.

Consultation on proposed changes to hospital services– Right Care, Right Time, Right Place

The Governing Bodies of NHS Greater Huddersfield and NHS Calderdale Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) have agreed that consultation on the future of hospital services can now get underway. The fourteen week period of public consultation will run from Tuesday, 15 March until midnight on Tuesday 21 June.

There will be lots of opportunities for patients, the public and other stakeholders to find out more about these proposals and have their say. We will be running a series of public events, publishing a survey and using our website, advertising and social media to raise awareness of the consultation and encourage people to have their say.
