Annual Report 2018-19 Cllr Richard Murgatroyd, Golcar
This year I have:
- Undertaken numerous pieces of casework in the ward
- Delivered surgeries throughout the year
- Participated in Ward Forums and the Community Hub
- Led an initiative in Longwood to develop a traffic plan
- Helped initiate a new Xmas lights event in Milnsbridge
- Involved in WW1 commemorative events, including delivering a lecture on aspects of the history of WW1
- Undertaken practical voluntary work with local community groups in Milnsbridge and Golcar
- Spoken at Council on various issues
- Drafted and moved a motion on Climate Emergency at Council
- Serving as Chair of the Climate Emergency WP
- Serving on Advisory Board of WYPF
- Serving on Economy and Neighbourhoods Scrutiny Panel
- Serving as Place Lead for Golcar, Colne Valley and Lindley Wards developing
- Currently working with partners to develop a Sustainable Stadium Campaign
- Serving as Chair of Colne Valley Co-operative Care, working in partnership with Kirklees and other external funders etc. to develop a community care Co-operative
- Helping the formation of a local group in Golcar getting refugees/asylum seekers and local people working together to grow vegetables and promote community cohesion.
