GUNS - a view.
The BBC recently published a piece on gun crime in the UK. It pointed out that though there has been a recent rise in gun crime it is still massively lower than it was 20 years ago.
This is in no way an argument to be complacent, indeed any moves to curtail the number of guns on the streets must be a good thing and we should support any initiatives to combat gun crime.
But the interesting thing is the contrast between the UK and the USA. The Donald constantly tells us that Guns make America safe, that guns do not kill people, people kill people. He is obviously not motivated by donations from the National Rifle Association, as no one in such a prestigious job could put their own political interest above the lives of their citizens. But putting things in perspective, it might be a good comparison to put on banners when we are blessed by a visit from "The Donald"
FIREARM DEATHS PER YEAR
UK 1 per 1,900,000 (1.9m)
USA 1 per 30,000
Which means the average American (or tourist in America) has a 63 times more chance of being killed by a gun in the USA rather than the UK.
