Will said of his selection
I'm proud to announce that I have been selected to be the Labour Party candidate for the ward of Denby Dale in May's local elections.
I've lived in Clayton West all of my life. I love our area and it's an honour to be on the ballot paper for my home.
Working on behalf of constituents in Paula Sherriff MP's office, I was a voice for regular people and helped every resident that I could.

But I also saw the limits of what we can achieve, and the damage being done to our community, under the brutal Tory cuts to our precious local services.
With downgrades at HRI, Dewsbury and Barnsley, and Pinderfields ‘consistently understaffed’ (the Care Quality Commission, Oct 2017), it’s clear that this government don’t care about our NHS.
Not to mention the £18.4m being taken from Kirklees’ schools and the £1m from our Council every week.
I will be a strong voice for our community and challenge the unjust cuts to our local services because we deserve better.
Cllr Graham Turner added Will is young, bright and totally committed to ensuring we can deliver a Labour victory in the Denby Dale ward. Once selected he hit the streets and has been doing regular door knocking sessions since then.
I would love to be able to welcome him to join me on the Council, and will be working alongside him between now and Mays election in order to secure his victory.
Will has set up a Facebook page called Will Simpson for Denby Dale I would encourage readers of this blog to sign up to this, where information of door knocking sessions etc. will be posted.
Denby Dale is one of our target seats so please come and help Will if you can, and help secure a Labour victory in Denby Dale in May 2018
