Austerity fuels
homelessness
The Guardian
examines the rise in homelessness. Across England the figures have doubled in
the last six years. In Manchester, homelessness has risen tenfold and in
Bristol, it is nine times higher than when Labour left power, says the paper.
It is estimated that there are 3,600 people sleeping on the streets nightly,
and the resurgence of the problem has worried campaigners who had hoped it was
near to being eliminated.
