CUTS

CUTS

Image result for george osborne imageAs we wait for the George to announce what actual cuts we will be having over the next three years, expected this week, to give us all of 6 weeks (less the Christmas break) to work out our budgets, obviously we have been working on our options. For quite a while and have had to make assumptions based on what George has already said to allow us to model our options.

If we did not have any reserves, the cuts we would have to make over the next four years would be;

 £35m, £28m, £33m and £34m.

Because we have anticipated the problems we face we do have reserves and balances. By using these reserves and balances in a prudent way we anticipate the cuts we will have to make will be;

£8m,£15m,£26m and £28m

As you can see the council will have to make massive changes to how it does things, but will not be able to avoid, stopping doing some of the things we currently do.

We are going to have to make difficult decisions, we unlike the conservatives will be honest about it, we will call a cut a cut. If we have to choose between cutting grass because someone's dog does not like going to the toilet in long grass (yes a genuine complaint made to me), and fitting a shower into a house to allow a person to live at home longer, we will make the right choice, and it won't be in favour of the dog.
