As part of the preparatory works for the new Spenborough
Pool complex, the Council has engaged a Consultant to undertake a
range of desktop and site surveys to help determine the best location on the
site for the new complex and to aid the establishment of a detailed cost plan.
Site surveys will include topographical surveys to establish
site levels and utility scans to identify the location of all utility services.
These surveys started on site at the back end of last week and will run
throughout this week.
As well as surveying the existing site (which includes the
playing field at the rear of the existing swimming pool and the athletics
track), surveys will also occur on Council owned land on the opposite of the
Spen river, known as Knowler Hill playing fields (the land between Fair View,
Knowler Hill and Radulf Gardens). This land is being surveyed as parts of it
may be needed to form part of the flood alleviation measures required by the
Environment Agency depending on the chosen location for the new Spenborough
Pool complex.
