Right to Steal - Not exactly a one for one replacement!!

  • in 2014 to 2015 - July to September (quarter 2), local authorities sold an estimated 2,845 dwellings under the Right to Buy scheme; this is virtually unchanged from the 2,846 sold in the same quarter of 2013 to 2014
  • local authorities in London accounted for 32% of sales in 2014 to 2015 quarter 2; this is the second highest percentage recorded since quarterly statistics became available in 2006 to 2007 quarter 1 (the highest was in the previous quarter)
Receipts and starts on site
  • in 2014 to 2015 quarter 2 local authorities received approximately £210 million from Right to Buy sales, 17% higher than the £180 million in the same quarter of 2013 to 2014
  • the average receipt per dwelling in 2014 to 2015 quarter 2 was £74,000, this compares to £63,000 in the same quarter of 2013 to 2014
  • there were 930 dwellings started on site or were acquired in 2014 to 2015 quarter 2, 9% greater than the 851 starts on site recorded in the same quarter of 2013 to 2014
