A warning to read past the headline was demonstrated by an article in the Huddersfield Examiner in a piece about allotment charges:
SET TO INCREASE BY 128% the headline screamed!
Many people will read the headline and no more, and will be infused by a sense of injustice to our current day diggers. If they had read further they would have realised that the rise is set to take rents to the soaring heights of £1.02 per week. A headline RENTS SET TO RISE TO £1 Per WEEK does not have the same impact as the 128% one.
