Suicide blamed on welfare reforms

An article in the Guardian, 27 August 2015, reported DWP figures to show that nearly 90 people a month are dying after being declared fit for work, according to new data. This prompted campaigners and Labour leadership contenders to call for an overhaul of the government’s welfare regime.

As if that isn't horrendous enough, when details of individual suffering like the one reported below appear, you can't help but feel the humanity is being completely ripped out society, compassion it seems no longer has a place in decisions on a persons health.
"A coroner has ruled that a man who had a long history of debilitating mental illness killed himself as a direct result of being found "fit to work" by the Government's outsourced disability assessors.
"The coroner found Michael O'Sullivan’s disability benefits were removed despite three doctors agreeing he suffered from recurrent depression and being certified as unable to work by his GP. It is believed to be the first time a coroner has explicitly blamed a suicide on the welfare reforms."
