Heckmondwike Bus Station

A new public transport hub for Heckmondwike  - Update
The works are progressing well with the recent good weather and the new loop road has been formed and surfaced temporarily. We are now progressing with the paving areas and will be installing the new bus shelters and street lighting after the Christmas Holidays.

We also plan to open up the new loop road to traffic on the 5 January 2015. From this date it will operate as a ‘one way’ system up Royle Fold and down George Street. There will be no access into George Street from Northgate. To aid drivers in the first few weeks we will be erecting additional diversion route signing to reinforce this.

Once the new one way system is in place it will allow us to install the new traffic signals at the junction of George Street and Northgate.

We are currently still on programme to finish our works in late February 2015. However to enable us to complete all the carriageway surfacing and road markings work safely it will be necessary to close Royle Fold and George Street to all traffic on 7th and 8th February 2015 (Saturday and Sunday).
