Martyns Meal
Whatever you read in the press, last years meal was not paid for to reduce the costs to the council. Martyn Bolt made a charge to increase the amount of money he could spend (council money) in his year of office. All donations at previous civic events were made to charity, last year we complained that the Mayor was taking this money to spend on his own (Mayors) hospitality.
To stop him doing this, later in the year we moved an amendment to the budget, to which he took great exception, to take the money off him.
Martyn has succeeded in politicising the Mayoralty as I feared he would.
