This
Thursday the application for 96 houses on green space in Golcar ward will be in
front of the planning committee. Unfortunately, the Government has made decision
making difficult.
Kirklees had
a housing plan for the whole of the local authority area with around 22,000 new homes in it, but this
was thrown out by secretary of state Eric Pickles. He stripped Kirklees of its plan and left us
exposed to applications for housing on green space.
The Lib Dem/
Conservative Government is spoiling local decision-making. Decisions should be
made on sound local knowledge, not on the latest policy fads of Westminster
politicians. I hope that on Thursday, Golcar ward doesn’t end up suffering from
the Government’s mismanagement of planning policy. Green space is important to
our community and needs to be preserved.
