There appears to have been some considerable focus recently stirred up by opposition groups in regard to permit parking in Kirklees. So as to minimise this confusion and keep the public clearly informed, new leader of the Labour Group, Cllr David Sheard explains below:
"Just to clarify, there was no budget amendment, the budget proposal said "Recovery of administration costs of permit parking schemes"
"That could be achieved by removing the schemes altogether, or by reducing the admin charges for instances making the permits last longer or changing the way they are issued.
"Remember they are only being asked to pay for the admin charges because they get a service that the majority of residents don't get."
